Art, in all forms, is very subjective. Whether you are painting, drawing, playing a musical instrument, creating, or stamping. . . it is an expression of you. Not everyone will like what you create, but others will fall in love. Bottom line is this: create for you, not for everyone else, because it would be impossible to please everyone, so try just pleasing yourself. There is a quote I came across that sums it up perfectly:
"A flower does not try and compete with the flower next to it. . .
. . .it just blooms."
The truth is, putting yourself "out there" by having your creativity and artwork out on display takes courage. You know you will be judged and sometimes even verbally criticized. But as artists, we keep doing it. We keep "putting ourselves out there". Why? Because we love to create, it is our passion. I encourage you to not let the people who were never taught, "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything" get you down. . . they are small minded people. You see the bigger picture, you have a right to express yourself, and you are only responsible for making yourself happy!
That being said, I know there are many people who don't care for the color orange. Especially bright, bold orange. And that's okay. But after seeing the bright orange felt letters in February's Paper Pumpkin (Layers of Gratitude), I decided to create with orange in mind. . . because not only is orange a super trendy color right now, but because it is also a happy color, and I wanted to spread a little happy around! I LOVE February's Paper Pumpkin, unfortunately it wasn't in the box of items that I am supposed to create with for the ADT hop this month. . . so instead, I grabbed my Tangelo Twist ink pad and cardstock, paired it with the Hello Life stamp set, and got started on creating my own orange happy! Check it out:
Now, go spread more happy, eh?! Leave some love for all of the amazing and talented ladies on the hop! Be sure and join me tomorrow, as I have a bonus project from my Stamps in the Mail to share with you along with a video tutorial as to how to create it!
